The Caledonian 2017
The Caledonian is named in honour of a proud and canny Scot, John Riddoch, founder of the Coonawarra wine region. In 1896, Riddoch made his second vintage in the Katnook Woolshed. The Caledonian celebrates an Australian tradition and the unique synergy achieved by combining Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz, whilst capturing the renowned terroir of Coonawarra.

Wine Profile
Tasting Notes
Rich layers of concentrated fruit and oak. Blackberry, mulberry and spiced plum, complemented with subtle oak maturation notes and fine, lingering tannins.
Vineyard Notes
2017 was a return to a more traditional Coonawarra vintage with a cool growing season and long, mild summer. Harvest was later than in recent years; ideal conditions in the lead up produced outstanding red fruit showing vibrant fruit flavours and strong varietal characters.
Winemaker Notes
Select parcels of wine were matured for approximately nine months in new and older French oak barriques.
Food Pairing Notes
Slow cooked rosemary lamb, BBQ porterhouse steak with mushroom sauce or a chunk of Parmigiano Reggiano cheese.
