Nested in the heart of Coonawarra, just 6 kilometres north of Penola on the Riddoch Highway, a warm welcome awaits at Katnook’s historic Cellar Door. We are open every day of the year, except Christmas Day and Good Friday - weekdays 10am til 5pm and weekends noon - 5pm (tastings finish by 5pm to comply with our liquor licence). We are wheelchair friendly, with level access from our carpark to tasting and function areas. Please contact us if you have special needs enquiries.
Coonawarra Wine region founder John Riddoch once ran his flourishing fruit colony from Katnook’s current cellar door, built in the late 1800’s and set amongst the vines. More than a century later, visitors can experience Riddoch’s beautifully renovated building, featuring local stone and timbers. Today our Cellar Door offers free tastings and cheese platters,. Our lounge area with open fire in winter is the perfect place to unwind. Adjacent to Cellar Door is our award winning 'terra rossa pit', where you can see Coonawarra's famous soil profile and learn why it is so important to wine flavour.
The Katnook experience is so highly regarded by visitors that it is rated at the top of Trip Advisor's list of "things to do in Coonawarra." and is consistently awarded a Certificate of Excellence.
