Founder's Block Cabernet Sauvignon 2023
The 2023 Coonawarra vintage faced some challenges, but the resulting Cabernet Sauvignon showed great promise. The warm, dry conditions in January were well-timed for flowering, and while there were some losses from Botrytis late in the season, the cooler, wetter weather in February helped maintain acidity. Despite some setbacks, the Cabernet is reminiscent of the great reds from Coonawarra's 1980s and 1990s, with well-balanced sugars and refined characteristics.
