2009 Coonawarra vintage was noted for the brief period of near record high temperatures in late February. The following cooler mild conditions provided an ideal ripening period producing Shiraz fruit at near optimum maturity. This Shiraz shows exemplary appeal with concentrated depth of colour and intense varietal characters of raspberry, plum and sweet spice, seamlessly integrated with mouth-filling tannins.  

Preliminary maturation was 13 months in a combination of equal part French and American oak Barriques, of which 75% were new. The Prodigy underwent a further maturation period of 20 months in both new and previously filled French and American barrels.   

With careful cellaring, this wine will age gracefully up to 20 years.
